The former Pushkin school, where in 1919. housed the defense headquarters of the city of Uralsk, now the environmental protection department
The building was built in 1898. Before the revolution, there was an elementary school and a military music school. During the defense of the city of Uralsk from the White Cossacks, this building housed the headquarters of the 22nd Infantry Division from April to July 1919. The defense of the city was led by the city party committee, the regional revolutionary committee and the political department of the 22nd Infantry Division. To combat the counter-revolution, an emergency commission was created under the leadership of S. Shtyba, I.I. Andreev, commissar of the 22nd division, P.G. Petrovsky, A. Aitiev. The 22nd division, together with the workers' squad, the red partisans, having taken on the entire blow of the Ural White Cossacks, survived until the arrival of the 25th Chapaev division, which broke through the blockade ring and liberated the city of Uralsk on July 11, 1919
