The building of the first women's gymnasium, now the Faculty of Natural Geography of WKSU named after M. Utemisov. This building, built in the last quarter of the 19th century (probably in 1876-1877), housed a women's gymnasium. The first women's educational institution - a girl's boarding school in the city of Uralsk, was opened in 1857, transformed into a women's gymnasium in 1877. Until 1910, there was a boarding school for 20 pupils at the gymnasium (in some years up to 27 pupils lived). During the civil war, since 1919, the building housed a mobile field hospital of the Ural Fortress Brigade, after which it housed a school, and since 1930, the Institute of Public Education (IPE), transferred from Orenburg. Since 1932, the building has housed the Ural Pedagogical Institute named after A.S. Pushkin, and from 1938 to the present - the Faculty of Natural Geography of the West Kazakhstan State University named after M. Utemisov.
